OWA Restructures to Implement Strategic Plan
(January 22, 2019 – Peterborough) The Ontario Waterpower Association (OWA) is excited to announce an organizational restructuring and expansion to deliver on its Strategic Plan for 2019-2021, entitled “Reinventing and Reinvesting”. The Plan outlines the industry’s vision that Waterpower is recognized as the most valued electricity source in Ontario – Affordable, Reliable, Sustainable.
The Plan has two sharply focused objectives and will be supported through the creation of three (3) new positions.
Janelle Bates will take on the new role of Director of Membership Relations and Events and will be responsible for member relations, business development, leadership of the annual Power of Water Canada (POWC) conference and all other Association events. Stephanie Landers will become the Manager of Community Relations and Public Outreach and will be responsible for cultivating and expanding relationships with municipalities and Indigenous communities and the broader public in order to foster and maintain support for waterpower. Finally, new to the OWA , Lukas Hardonk is the Coordinator of Media and Events responsible for marketing and logistical support for the annual POWC conference and designing and implementing social and traditional media strategies.

The OWA’s 2019-2021 Strategic Plan emphasizes the dual objectives of sustaining and enhancing existing waterpower assets and providing new opportunities for waterpower development.
